We recently had the pleasure of supplying our best-selling Fibremix; surface to valued customer Martin Ong, for his new, self-built 20 x 40 riding arena.
Martin and his lovely wife Jane both ride, own horses and love dressage. Martin has a background in engineering and construction and having seen and ridden in some poorly constructed arenas, was determined to get his right.
Martin had the following to say about his experience:
“Having talked to many potential suppliers, we discovered that there was a lot of similarity in many of the products on offer. The school would be used for private purposes only, with occasional turnout due to limited grazing and the heavy clay during wetter months. From discussions with Derek Lea at Day Equestrian, we selected Fibremix™ for the arena surface and washed 40mm limestone for the drainage layer.
A big advantage in choosing Fibremix™ is that it is delivered already mixed. This fact should not be underestimated, as the scheduling and cost of having a power harrow on-site is just another issue that one can do without. It also made my life so much easier in being able to deal with one company, who had the knowledge, the products and the means to deliver them to site within a single organisation.
We now have our school and are looking forward to putting it to use in the next few weeks.
Our thanks go to all the staff involved. It was good to meet Derek Lea and discuss the various options available to us when he visited earlier in the summer.
Jo and Kaylee in the office, for sorting out all the ordering, invoicing and, in conjunction with the despatch team, for managing all the delivery schedules.
The drivers deserve a special mention as they were outstanding. Good humoured and always happy to do their best with a site that had tight access and a grass area to cross, before unloading into the school itself. It certainly reduced the double handling of materials to an absolute minimum.
I’d heartily recommend anyone considering such an undertaking to talk to Day Equestrian”
